I start my days early, usually reading and doing research before 5 am. This morning I saw something new and it is a clear demonstration of what I’ve been saying for the last 4 to 5 years about corporate practice of dentistry, the Super Dentist, and how both are gaining momentum in the market.

The videos I have attached show our client, Brazos Oral Surgery & Dental Implant Center, the practice of Scott Warren, DDS, MD, dominating the Google Map Pack with 5 Star reviews and him in the first position in organic search for:

  • Dental Implants Waco
  • Wisdom Teeth Waco
  • Oral Surgeon Waco

Here is the extremely interesting part –

Take a look at the Google Ads above the Map Pack & in the Map Pack! You will see Aspen running ads where they are aggregating their national reviews and applying them at a local level. 41,000 reviews with 4.8 stars starts to get people’s attention.

Running right next to that is the original Super Dentist in town: his “no referral” marketing insinuates he is superior to specialists and that you don’t have to deal with the hassle of going to two places. It’s not the first time we have seen that and it won’t be the last. Almost every OMS I speak with states the rise of the Super Dentist as a significant problem.

There is bad news and there is good news.

The bad news might be good news if you are willing to work for a corporation, a Pediatric Dentist, or a General Dentist. The same old website that is just like the other OMS’ in your market – with stock images and generic videos – isn’t going to cut it anymore. Keep doing that and you will be a prime candidate for DSO recruitment. The good news is that you can market your practice now to rise above the noise of corporate practices and Super Dentists. Keep in mind that a market where everyone says they do the same thing is dangerous. Imagine being a healthcare consumer and seeing “We do dental implants, wisdom teeth, Invisalign, veneers, and whitening all under one roof” everywhere – how can they tell the difference?
