32-Year Agro Innovator Rebuilds Dead American Soil

Dennis Amoroso, welcome back to the Pathway to Peak Performance. So great to have you here, my friend. Uh, long drive for you this morning with the traffic. Um, but I'm glad you made it.
Yeah, a little crazy. But yeah, I'm absolutely delighted to be here. Thrilled with everything that has happened with us over the past year.
Yeah, it's been a year since we saw you and there have been some major developments for you. It's pretty exciting to think that, uh, the world is about to change. This is big news and it kind of gives me — I actually like talking about it, I get goosebumps, literally. I mean, just like the notion of this is a major, major deal and, um, wow, we've got a lot to cover today.
Before we get into that, we're going to do the same charity as last year, Wounded Warriors.

Okay, so let's get into what's happened for you. Give me the quick rundown, uh, and then let's get into the specifics.
First of all, we have achieved, uh, something in agriculture that we did not expect. It was a surprise even to us. We were simply trying to achieve the same yield, because yield is vital to the farmer. What you grow, the yield of your field, is how you make your money. So when I say yield, I mean how much he harvests that year. And it changes year by year, of course. And all we were trying to do was achieve the same yield per acre as the chemical fertilizer, because the organic program failed. They could not achieve the yield of the chemical fertilizer. And we wanted to create a non-chemical product that would achieve the same yield.
And yes, we did achieve the same yield. As a matter of fact, our almond grower, in his first season's harvest of using Biorock, the results came back on a US Department of Agriculture report as being 88.7% higher than his previous year's yield.
88.7% higher.
Higher.
Wow.
We not only achieved the same, he increased it by 88.7%.
Wow.
Now, this was a specific type of almond called Shastas. And we don't claim that we're going to do this for anybody else. I'm just telling you the facts on the US Department of Agriculture report from the almond producers that the farmer got paid on. So, he was thrilled. We were excited. And we don't expect that kind of yield as an average, but it was a nice bonus.
Yeah. The thing that's interesting about that too that I learned along the way, uh, before we sat down, is that it's way less expensive than chemical fertilizer.
It is. Yes.
Yes. So, not only do you get a higher yield, you actually cost less to produce that yield.
Yes. He did his accounting on his inputs. And when we say inputs, we simply mean the different amount of chemical and spray and fertilizer inputs per acre in the field. And he actually saved 50% on his inputs. So not only did his yield go up, his costs went down.
So that translates to the bottom line, profit, what you put in the bank.
Yeah.
Really, really incredible. That is truly —
And we're not promising any of this. This is just facts of what happened to date. But we do know for a fact that we can achieve the same yield as the chemical fertilizer input using a 100% non-chemical program.
That's phenomenal. Uh, a couple things I want to get into. First things first, recently, uh, there's a big move towards regenerative farming. There's a big push, um, at the federal level for this to happen, uh, which is really exciting, uh, because boy oh boy, the, uh, farm runoff, um, from chemical fertilizers proved to be somewhat, uh, deleterious.
Yes, the National Geographic did a three-month article on the damage being done by chemical farm runoff from the Mississippi River into the Gulf of Mexico, America. And the latest dead zone in that Gulf of Mexico was the size of the state of Delaware. And this is an absolute known fact. The other side of this story is that other countries in the world cannot afford the chemical fertilizers any longer, because for instance in Tanzania and in Zambia and in, uh, the states of Australia, the governments can no longer afford to subsidize the chemical fertilizers because the price just keeps going up and they basically have a limited amount of money that they can spend on this. So we supply them with a product that is made in their country and the economics are fabulous. That's why the government of Tanzania has asked us to come be their national fertilizer company.
Wow, that's big. That's huge news. We'll come back to that. Want to move on to something else that's really important because we're in a drought here in California, which happens all the time. Um, and the reality is that, um, you know, if water's hitting the ground, it's just running off. It's not able to soak in, that's a problem. So, one of the cool things about Biorock was that there's some sort of calculation on a per acre basis. When you put this stuff down, it's going to hold X amount of gallons of water in that. And then we're going to get on to the microbiome of the soil that's absent vis-à-vis all of the things that have happened just years and years of heavy duty farming, etc. So let's start with just the fact that if you get this on the ground, you get real topsoil now that really isn't there the same way that it used to be, and it can hold how much water?
One inch of topsoil. And I will define topsoil because I was talking to some farmers who are third generation farmers and they have a completely different definition of topsoil than we have. So when you define topsoil in the academic sense, it is the living microbial active layer of soil that supports root growth, stimulates plant growth and so on and so forth all on its own. And this particular topsoil like we're describing here holds 6,000 gallons of water per acre every inch.
Okay, wait a minute. Oh, this is a big number. Okay. 6,000 gallons of water per inch. Per —
It's called an acre-inch.
An acre-inch. So, does it hold more if you have more inches of it?
Absolutely.
Okay.
Every inch of topsoil holds 6,000 gallons. Two inches is 12,000 gallons. So on and so forth. Three inches is 18,000 gallons of water per acre.
And this holds it. And it's not like having a puddle of water there, right?
It is ionic. The water is broken down into its individual molecules and is bonded to the soil.
So what this means is it's holding water that otherwise would just evaporate or run off.
Correct. Oh, it is correct. Which is a big deal when you think about it. For any — number one, you can't grow anything without water.
Absolutely.
You need water and sunlight. Um, so here in California we have plenty of sunlight and, um, you know, pretty much a growing season year round. Uh, so it's a big deal in the state of California and I can imagine that everybody's super excited about that. Which brings me to this thing with, uh, farmer Jack, who these almonds came off of his farm.
That's correct.
Thanks for bringing those, by the way. Uh, and I do want to get into — you've got an almond in your pocket I want to see.
Yeah.
Um, I just want to show it.
Yeah, let's see.
Yeah. Yeah. Um, you might want to hold it up for the camera.
This is an almond that — this is what they look like when they come off the tree. The hull is a green hull around the outside of the almond that dries out and cracks and allows the almond in its shell to come out. Well, these hulls are super nutrient-rich and they use them as cattle feed for the dairies off of our almonds grown with Biorock. The nutrition in this is about eight times what it is from chemical fertilizers. So, the cattle are going to benefit from eating the hulls from our almonds.
And the shells then are cracked open by the processor. And I'm going to do that right here. And you can see the almond come out of the shell. And these shells then are a waste product. They have no place to put them. They have nothing to do with them. There's literally millions of tons of these shells sitting in gigantic mounds all over the almond processing countryside. And we are going to turn every one of these shells into two things. We crush them down into a powder and we blend them in with our recipe, and we turn them into biochar. We cook them and turn them into biochar. So then that biochar also goes into our recipe. So, we get rid of all of these shells that there is no way of getting rid of today.
You're like the king of waste. You're the king of — yeah, you're the king of taking something and making it into something.
Walnut shells, almond shells. Yeah. Food waste, wood chips from green waste from the cities and from the forest. Turn that all into biochar. And when we do that, we also produce wood vinegar, which is our non-chemical spray that we use for fungus and molds and things like that that tend to grow.
Got it. So now this — I mean, you wouldn't take the almond stuff that's out there currently because it's got chemical fertilizer.
Oh, no. It's fine.
Is it fine by that?
Absolutely. We're going to take all of their almond shells, starting putting it in the disc.
But for feeding the cattle —
Oh well, these have already been eaten off the old almonds.
Okay.
Last year and the year before and the year before that.
Yeah. What's exciting about it is if you imagine that all the almond farmers eventually move towards this, then you've got this great product that instead of feeding cattle, uh, you know, uh, stuff that, you know, may not be great, low nutrient —
Yeah.
Uh, super high nutrient.
Yeah.
You can give them stuff that's going to be — so then the milk is higher quality, right? And that is, uh, super important.
Yeah.
Okay, moving on. Let's talk about Farmer Jack. And not only did he get a greater yield, but you also did something in one of the orchards, one of the almond orchards. You started off with these what you call seedlings, uh, small trees that were knee high.
Yeah.
And then within one year they grew to being the same equivalent of something would take like three years to grow or something like that.
That's correct.
Okay, that's correct. That's a pretty subst— I mean, that seems almost like supernatural.
And it's kind of funny because it is supernatural.
That's an amazing thing.
Well, first of all, what farmers have forgotten is that you must focus on the roots of a plant if you expect to achieve yield. If you forget about the root zone, then you're thinking of only half the plant, because every plant is a mirror image of itself. What you see above the ground is mirrored below the ground in the root system. So using Biorock we created an environment in the soil that supported the roots, obviously, because now he has one-year-old trees that are twice the size of three-year-old trees right down the road, comparative.
Awesome comparison.
He has another, uh, friend who planted exactly the same time as him and his trees are half the size. So nobody has any question about the phenomenal growth that he achieved using zero chemical fertilizer. And now the next question is when do they blossom? Because if they blossom as fast as they grew, he's going to have a crop next year, which is unheard of in the industry.
Yeah. This has never happened before.
No, that's not how it normally works. You got to take time to like —
Usually you get your first blossom the third year and very, very few nuts. And to get a full crop, it takes five years. Well, if you look at that economically, you have the cost of putting the new orchard in, then you have the loss of revenue for up to five years. Of course, that's on a gradient. If your tree matures two years faster, your yield on the nuts comes out two years ahead — the other side of the coin, two years sooner. That translates to revenue.
Yeah. And what's interesting about nuts too is how long will — and you know, when we talk about food, there's a lot of food that's perishable, right? Unless it's frozen. You know, we get into like vegetables and fruits. Unless you freeze it, uh, it's going bad. With nuts, how long can nuts — just like these nuts right here that have nothing on them? They're straight off the tree. There's no preservative, anything in them. How long can those nuts sit in a jar? In a sealed jar, like one of those coffee jars, you know, where you put your coffee beans in.
I was kind of thinking like one of those jars that you jar. Yeah, whatever, you know, the ones that have like the tops that you screw in.
As long as you don't get a lot of moisture in there, they can sit on the shelf in your pantry for years.
In many ways, that's a pretty interesting thing because that's a product that, uh, when people talk about having food around, right, uh, there's a lot that you can do with almonds. Number one, they're high in protein, high in fat, and they carry a lot of also micronutrients with them. So that's why people are so into like almond milk and all that good stuff.
Now the other thing too that I want to talk about, because last year, uh, you brought down some figs that were — I mean, these things are like the size of a small baseball, you know, or maybe they were baseball and they think oh my God —
I did that. I forgot I brought figs.
Those figs were so good. I remember I called you. I said, you know what, those figs are — so you said come back up, get some more. And, you know, the reality is that those are so good. And I'm thinking about, you know, we have these avocado farms. They're down in the San Diego area.
Yes.
And they grow a lot of citrus down there. Um, and I can imagine — I mean, avocados now are just like, it's so big. There's so much, uh, production on that. This is going to be a game changer for them.
Absolutely. So then we get — absolutely.
I'm thinking of all the crops that have been, you know — you think about the Midwest. Um, so that Mississippi River basin, there's a lot of farms that are along that. So we've got corn, you have soybean, you've got a bunch of stuff and a lot of it is export. So for us, it's a really important, uh, part of our GDP. And, uh, I think it's important to think about what's happened there because my understanding is that those farmers are, uh, struggling with the yield keeps going down no matter what they do.
That's true. That's true. In May, I drove through the Mississippi River Basin, a portion of it. It's 300 million acres. It's difficult to drive through the whole, but they call it the Mississippi River basin because it is drained by the Mississippi River ultimately, through the Ohio River and the Tennessee River and the Missouri River and so on and so forth. But that whole region is drained into the Mississippi River. And, uh, the thing is that California has been in agriculture for 150 years. Those farms and that farming region back there has been in agriculture for almost 300 years and it has never been reconstituted. The soil has never been rebuilt by actual rock, by actual mother nature's nutrients.
Let's get into this because this is where this whole thing around food today where people say, um, food doesn't have the same value that it once had before. So you get an apple, it doesn't have the same amount — and you talk about apples up in Washington, you have these huge apple —
Have them here too.
Um, but if you don't have the same nutrient value, but now if you're replacing it, now we're talking about, you're remineralizing that soil. Correct? Is that the right way to say it?
Well, I don't think — as a matter of fact, I know for sure that the farmers don't understand the value of silica in the soil. Silica is just basically quartz rock. Okay? And every kind of bedrock has silica in it. It also has iron in it and calcium. We deliver 80 pounds of magnesium per acre per year. Never been done before in the history of the world. So when you deliver rock powder to the soil, you're doing what mother nature would do anyway to rebuild the topsoil. But what mother nature takes a thousand years to accomplish, we do in a thousand hours. So we can do this every year consistently. And we are literally saving farmland for generations to come. Pretty important when you think about how much farming means to the United States. Uh, and if we're doing it in a totally new way, uh, where farmers are actually given the opportunity to increase their yield, we can increase our exports, we can — there's a lot that comes from this. So this truly is big, big news. And, um, you're now in discussions with, uh, you know, I understand from a business standpoint when you get into these types of things oftentimes you can't really talk about a lot of it, um, but you're having some pretty interesting discussions right now, uh, with some pretty big folks who are super, super interested. You got a term sheet going. And you got a bunch of stuff happening. And that's pretty exciting, because what it means is — I always think about it when I talk to you. I think about like this dam of pent-up stuff waiting to be released. It's finally — you got a crack in that dam. And I can imagine for someone who's been at it as long as you have — this is not something that you did five years ago, 10 years ago, 15 years. You've been at this for a long time. So, this is something that has got to have tremendous satisfaction for you to say that all of these years of hard work are looking like they're about to really pay off. And not just from a financial standpoint, but really from the standpoint of what you're really after, which is to deliver what the country really needs.
You talk about agriculture being a benefit to the United States. Without agriculture, civilization ceases to exist. When people can't eat, they don't care whether or not they have a cell phone, they don't care about anything else. When they start to get hungry, the only thing they're focused on is getting food for their families and for themselves. And we achieve that not only for the US. We have a great deal of excitement in Canada because of the results that we achieved on the canola industry. I just got an email from an associate of ours who handles Peru and Chile. Of course, Tanzania we've been talking to for the past year. Zambia, Africa, Ghana. Now, we're getting interest from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Three different states of Australia: New South Wales, Queensland, and I don't remember the name of the other one, because Australia has 950 million acres of agriculture and they have no chemical fertilizer at all. They could not deliver it. So, we're talking about global agricultural support.
Yeah. And what's really great about that too is you think about it, we're in this day and age when, you know, the notion of shipping product means that we're, you know, that's just burning, you know — um, so the notion of being able to go and help countries set this up for themselves, um, so that they've got that resource right there and they're able to actually produce the product themselves is a monumental — I mean, you know, for generations after you're gone, people in your family will say, "Yep, that was my, you know, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather that did that." Um, and the pathway to peak performance. How does that feel?
Like you said, we've been doing this a long time, 32 years, and you just plod along every day, just sticking to it because I know what this means to the human race. Then you get up one morning and you realize, oh my gosh, somebody in the financial community actually understands what's going on finally. And I actually got nervous. You know, you get a little shaky and then started thinking about it and calming down, and we just do it the same way except that now we have fuel in our machine. We have fuel in our rocket and we can launch this thing because we've been preparing. We've been researching the availability of raw material across the US, across Canada. Literally hundreds of billions of tons of raw material that's available for this. And it's a commodity. It has to be produced every year, year after year after year, to supply food production. So, we have to know where our raw material is and where it's going to come from.

Just a point that we didn't talk about before that I want to jump back to. You said that you're going to put this stuff on every single year, that that fertilizer is replacing that topsoil every single year. So if it's never been replaced and you've got 200 plus years of farming on, you're just stripping it down, stripping it down, stripping it down till there really isn't anything there.
That's correct.
But now what you're talking about is, okay, let's restore it back to where it was and let's just keep adding to it. Keep adding to it. Keep adding to it. So we really are never in what I would say a mineral deficit. We're never in a, you know, topsoil deficit. The stuff is always out there, is always happening. So, we're ever producing better and better quality food.
That is absolutely correct. That's the entire point of delivering every year.
And when it's readily available and it's less expensive than what they're using, uh, previously, they're getting better yield. There's not going to be much resistance there.
That's — and we're getting rid of enormous amounts of waste. Millions and millions of tons of waste every year.
Yeah.
And it's non-toxic. There's no toxic metals or chemicals or elements in it at all. And we have also discovered that the activity of the bacteria that breaks down the rock powder also literally decomposes the molecules of toxic substances. And this is just something that we happen to discover.
This is — okay. So, more to be revealed on that.
Correct.
Because you're — if I know anything about you, you're the guy that likes to talk about when you have all the science together. You did that with the UC Davis guys and all that good stuff.
So, let's get into the pathway to peak performance because that's what this show is all about. And I think your story — I, you know, from the first time I met you, I thought your story was truly, uh, fascinating. And when you invited me to come out to your factory, I was blown away by the sheer magnitude of the thing, how big it was. And, um, then what I came to realize, you know, is that this has been one of those burning desires where it was sort of like Edison, where Edison, you know, he failed but he kept going and he said, "All I figured out is the 399th way to not make a light bulb, not make a filament." Right? And he kept going and kept going. But at some point in time when it breaks through, you know, you kind of look back on that and you say to yourself, what were the key elements in that that kept you propelled to go forward? Was it just something that was inside of you? Was it something that you just knew you had to do and no matter what, through all of the tough times that were associated with that, you just kept going? Help me understand this.
Well, it has to do with a value system. It has to do with a life goal, a life mission. If you have — if you decided for yourself a life mission that you're going to accomplish this or die, that's the difference. I was introduced to this life mission as a child because my mother was a doctor of homeopathic medicine and we were vegans, and we would go to school and everybody else would have a cold and we wouldn't have a cold. And I asked my mother one time, why do — what is flu season? What do they mean by flu season? And she said, well, when does flu season occur? I said, well, January, February, time like that. She goes, "What are people doing just before flu season?" Oh, they're having Christmas candy and Christmas dinner and pie and cake. And she said, "Flu season is simply sugar poisoning."
So, this was introducing me to a concept of universal, uh, health. Even the Bible says, "Let your food be your medicine." So, this was in my mind. And then as I'm raising my boys, I'm a dad. I want my children to grow up healthy and strong and mentally acute, and they need nutrients that are in these nuts that are not in this food that we get in the store. So I want everybody to achieve this level of success — the human race. And to be able to do that, we're not just building a sailboat here. We're building a battleship. Takes a long time. It takes a lot of work, a lot of focus, staying focused. But what do you have when you're finished? You have a battleship. And that's what this is. This is something that is now currently impacting the world on a global scale. How did — along the way there had to have been moments of intense disappointment.
Oh yeah.
And discouragement. So in those moments, I mean, some people, you know, rebound from that quickly. Some people are completely unaffected by it. Right? Some people are really affected by it. Right? So the question I have is how did you regulate your thought processes to actually stay in that zone, to keep going forward? What was it? How did you do it?
Well, I believe in almighty God. I read spiritual reading every morning and I pray every day, and I was given every indication that the hand of God was in this. So quitting would mean that I would be quitting on my family, but ultimately I'd be quitting on God himself, because many, many things happened while we were in the business of discovering this. This was literally an accident, a beneficial accident. And so I felt like this was something that not only did I want to do, but I absolutely had to do it. That was just — there was no choice. I had to do it. And I had to give up everything and anything in my life that would stand in the way of accomplishing this. So when those moments of disappointment came, it was just sort of like, hey, I'm just one step closer to getting to where I need to go. One step at a time.
Growing up in the fields was a good starting point. Hard work.
Hard work. Growing up in the field. I have no experience with that at all. I couldn't do a day's worth of work — that kind of work, if you know what I mean. I really seriously have such —
See what you can do when you're hungry.
Yeah, I would imagine. Right. I never experienced that.
And my sons encouraged me. My sons are constantly calling me, telling me how proud they are of me, things like that. And I tell them how proud I am of them. But in times of discouragement, in the low part of the cycle, when you have a son that calls you and says, "Dad, you're just an amazing dad" —
Oh, man. What else is there?
Yeah. What else can a man ask for than a son who calls him and says, "Thanks for being the man you are"?
Yeah. Doesn't get any better than that. So, now here we are. You're at the precipice of this, you know, and I wanted to catch you, uh, at this point in time, right before the sort of thing that dam just cracks open and goes, "This is it. We're here." We're about to — you talk about rockets, right? And we're about to watch this, uh, rocket launch.
Yes.
You know, you can feel the energy of that. I truly believe that, you know, you can kind of sense how big this is going to be and what this means for, you know — and of course, I want everyone in the world to do well. Uh, we want all people to do well. Um, but at the same time, you know, there are a lot of people right here in the United States that are hungry. Uh, and that's almost unfathomable, right? Because, you know, you look at it and you say to yourself, how could this country have that many people, uh, that are going home hungry? I can remember, uh, at the kids' school they were sending home backpacks with kids, you know, they didn't have any food at home. So that backpack was their food for the weekend because they didn't have any food in their homes. You think how heartbreaking that is for a child, and how many people, um, have nothing to eat. Uh, I know that happens all over the world and there are people who are suffering. They don't have clean water.
This has this rural impact. It has a huge impact for the United States. Can produce a lot of jobs. These are jobs that really — I mean, that are absolutely right, because we've decimated our manufacturing.
Because our production facilities are going to be in rural America.
And that's really exciting.
And they're not going to be in a situation where one is here and then hundreds of people have to drive to get there. They're going to be boom, 100 employees. Boom, 100 employees. Boom, 100 employees.
Mhm.
All over the regions of agriculture in the US and other countries that we move into. Provides a tremendous opportunity, and the employees are also going to be shareholders in their own company.
Yeah. And I love that. So this is an idea, um, that — going back to the manufacturing thing. We've allowed, uh, something to happen in once what I mean the manufacturing mecca, uh, and now we don't do that here. Uh, my son, um, you know, who I was working out with this, uh, past weekend was basically saying to me, what happens if Taiwan goes? And I'm like, well, first things first, it's not going, uh, that can't happen because everything that does, we've got to, you know — and he's like, yeah, I mean, like the entire world, I mean, as we know it, is like completely changed. I said, they're going to figure it out.
Well, the only constant in the cosmos is change.
True.
So if we do not align ourselves with change and evolution, then we are destined to go the direction of the T-Rex and become obsolete.
Well, we got to bring manufacturing back to the United States. And so one of the ideas I had was something along the lines of what you're talking about, is this notion of each one of those folks have an actual share position in the company that they're working in. That is the way to give someone a true incentive to do an outstanding job, when you're working for more than just a paycheck.
And that's what we call conscious capitalism. We're all capitalists, right?
So there's no doubt about it. I am — I'm not going to speak for you. I'm a capitalist. Like everybody on the planet is a capitalist. But how we actually take care of the people that work for us is what really matters. And in my opinion, I don't want anybody telling me how to do that. I think I should just do it myself the way that I know I should do it. And that should just come naturally.
That should be — everybody in their heart, in their soul, knows the difference between right and wrong.
Yep. They know the difference between being greedy and being benevolent. We have been talking to some initial employees, and when they understand the concept that they are helping to feed families in their own area, in their own region, in their own county, they just get this look of bliss on their face. Oh my gosh, we're doing something to help others around us, the world. This kind of an opportunity to help others in your job when you're making a living does not seem to be stressed enough.
Yeah. When we think about, um, communities of people, right? Uh, when you create any kind of industry like that, we have what we all know as cottage industry. So there are those businesses that spring up around that to support that.
Absolutely.
So when we have something that's strong, uh, sustainable and is going to be there, uh, without, you know — hey, there's no threat that this is going to get shipped off to someplace else. Um, then there's this real potential for these sustainable communities to really grow and flourish and have people who are living great lives, uh, where they have the — you know, the sad thing is, we just had Dr. Richard Louis Miller on the show, phenomenal guy, and we talked about people living paycheck to paycheck and that so many Americans are living paycheck to paycheck and the fear that that creates for them. Uh, which is why I think in so many ways leading to the divide that we see within the nation. We can eliminate that fear. We can provide people with something that's steady, then all of a sudden the fear leaves and we can have happier communities, people who are more supportive of one another. We could do more for each other. And you know, I think we come from a similar sort of, um, thinking around where that all stems from. And we do know what's right and we do know what's wrong.
Essentially, the employees own their own company. These employees are going to be the sons and daughters and nephews and nieces of the local farming community. So now they are supporting the families and the region they grew up in, that their great-grandfathers grew up in. So that gives them motivation and a feeling of accomplishment and strength as a team. So then they want that community to flourish. So they make sure that their company flourishes, and it's all based on the fact that this group of people is taking care of the society they grew up in. And it can't go away, like you say, because nobody's going to pick up the farmland and move it somewhere else.
Yeah. It just doesn't work.
It's going to be there forever.
It doesn't work that way. So the good news is that it's kind of a chain reaction. The fuse is lit. You can't unlight it. It's lit.
Yeah.
So, you know, there's one of those waterproof fuses. You've seen them. I've seen them underwater. They're going. And so, when it goes, it's going to blow up and basically this thing's going to take off. And when it does, it's going to mean great things for people all over the world. That's a tremendous feat. It's a tremendous moment for you. Congratulations. Your pathway to peak performance, uh, has been long, hard, and probably one where you're coming to this point, you know, that precipice point. I needed to get you in here right now, cuz if I talk to you six months from now —
Well, you're right.
Yeah, talk to you six months from now, you know, number one, I might not be able to get you. The problem is you're going to be so busy all over the place. I don't know that I could get your time.
Well, one thing that I have learned, and that I did learn as a young teenager working in ranches with cowboys — do not let the business run you. You run the business. Just like football coaches who are continuously successful understand that if you run the game your way, if you time it, if you handle it, if you run the game your way, you're going to win. So, we're going to run the business. We're going to handle it. We're going to make sure that we have really good people in place, but it's not going to run me. So if and when the time comes that you want me back on the show, it's just a matter of —
Let's just do what we did last year and let's see you back next year, because in a year's time, okay, I feel like there's a lot that's —
Well, our new CFO told us that one of the very best acquisitions a company of our scope and scale can do is to buy a business jet. It's economically smart. It's financially smart. It's a tax write-off and you can get around where you need to go without having to deal with public transportation, etc., etc. So, yes, we will — I will be able to get back here without that traffic that I experienced today.
Yeah. Well, I just spent some time, uh, traveling across the country. Uh, and I realized for all those years that I did that just how hard that is. I mean, if you're — I'll give you this quick story. So, on the day I made my million miles on United, right, that's just one airline. So, the day I made my million miles on United, go down to the gate and, um, I'm thinking this is it, right? You know, because for years you're this young guy and you're like a 1K, which is the highest level that they've got. You got this 1K status, but people come down and I move forward — the flight — "How, Mr. Putney, how are you doing?" And I'm like a kid and people around like, who is this guy, right? And so I'm thinking like, you know, something's going to happen. You know, see a guy come down, he talks to some other guy. Guy's sitting down. Uh, nobody talks to me. Get on the plane, check in. I'm not upgraded to first class. I'm in exit row, uh, which is about as good as it gets if you're not in first class. And I look over and there's the guy that he was talking to. He's in the exit row over on the right side of the plane. Pilot comes on. He says, "Ladies and gentlemen, just want to let you know we have a very special traveler today." And, uh, yeah, he's celebrating a major milestone. I'm like, "That's me." And, uh, he goes, "But he doesn't want to be known by his full name. He just wants to be known by his first name." I'm like, "No, no. Uh, you could say my full name." And he says, "Bill has made two million miles today on United Airlines." And I look over and it was the guy that he was talking to. He's over in the exit row. He's got his neck pillow out. He's already out cold and he looks like he's about to be embalmed. And I'm like, you know what the lesson in that is? Don't be Bill.
Yeah, that's great. I love it.
Yeah. So, yeah, the traveling is not easy. And so, that does make sense when you got to get around, you got to help a lot of people. Uh, that ability — time is precious. Ability to get there and not have to have those huge layovers and all that is important.
Time is the only thing we cannot replace.
Yeah. All right, guys. We are, uh, a little past the 30 minute mark on that. I'm curious if you felt anything from those ketones in terms of focus and just overall kind of — it's pretty subtle, right?
Oh, I'm pretty responsive to any kind of medicine or, you know, aspirin or anything like that. I gotta tell you, I literally feel a buzz.
Yeah.
And I can — because I know the difference. I can feel the difference. Yeah. And, uh, this is going to be really great because I'm going to another business meeting after this and I'm going to have to calm it down a little bit.
Well, you can just go in there and tell them you're high on ketones.

The nice thing is, you know, the buzz that you feel is that focused buzz. It's not one of those where you lose control of anything. It's like you're more dialed in.
